Where Europe ends, the reset begins

Give your team three days by the Atlantic that change how they work for a year.

Breath, movement, cold water, sleep and real connection, led by professionals on the Portuguese coast. Built into your offsite, measured before and after, in partnership with Accelerate Health.

The reset

Feels like a week off. Works like a programme.

Your people arrive wired. They leave slept, moved, breathed, and closer to each other than a year of meetings could manage. The science underneath is real; the experience is the point.

Why it works

Under pressure, people do not lose their skills. They lose access to them.

Focus, patience and good judgement are not produced by knowledge. They are produced by the state of the body carrying it. Most culture programmes work on mindset. We work on the physiology that decides whether the mindset is available at 4pm on a hard Thursday.

The Atlantic does half the work. Salt air, cold water, early light and a horizon with nothing on it move a nervous system faster than any slide. We lead the rest, and we measure it.

Health is not a counterweight to performance. It is the precondition. A team that can regulate itself decides faster, argues cleaner, recovers overnight and stays. That case holds with a CFO, and it holds on the beach at 7am.

Three benefits, one body

Emotional, mental, physical. They were never separate.

People find their balance again through connection: realising others carry the same load, then learning to step out of a reactive state without giving up an inch of ambition.

Emotional

Balance through connection

  • Feeling understood, not managed
  • Less reactivity, faster repair after friction
  • Trust that survives a bad quarter
Five people sitting on warm rock above the sea, eyes closed.
Mental

Presence and clarity

  • Clearer decisions under pressure
  • More focused hours in the day
  • The same hours, more of the person in them
Colleagues running into the ocean together, laughing.
Physical

Energy, sleep, longevity

  • A regulated nervous system, measured
  • Sleep that recovers instead of pauses
  • Habits that protect health for the long run

Healthy intensity, not grind

In the age of AI, the human is the edge. We put people back at the core of the game.

Ambition stays. Long weeks stay. What changes is how energy, focus and recovery are managed, so high performance comes from the state rather than against it. Teams that can feel each other raise EQ and IQ at the same time.

A day on the coast

Your agenda keeps its slots. The Atlantic gets the rest.

One sample day from a three-day Reset for 120 people in the Algarve. Every session is led, explained in plain physiology, and optional. By day two, attendance runs above 70%.

  2. Your strategy sessionWe open it with ten minutes of breath that lands the room. Then it is yours.
  3. Lunch, then GroundSeventy-five minutes of embodiment on the rocks, in groups of thirty. Reading your state, shifting it.

The programme

Three phases. The middle one is the trip.

Make the baseline visible, reset it on the coast, integrate it back at work, measure again. The place changes; the mechanism does not.

Phase 1

Baseline

14 days before · 15 minutes per person
  • Confidential intake: energy, sleep, load, recovery
  • Optional physiological measurement through a wearable, where the company opts in
  • A 20-minute call with leadership to name what the team is carrying
  • Everyone sees their own state. Nobody else does.
Phase 3

Integration

30 to 90 days · at work
  • Routines designed to survive pressure, not depend on motivation
  • Two online check-ins with the team, one with leadership
  • Baseline repeated at day 30; results side by side, aggregated, anonymised
  • A report you can put in front of the board

What people take home

Depth, without the language of a retreat.

  1. They have seen their own state measured and explained, not only felt.
  2. They understand why they become reactive under pressure, and can steer it on purpose.
  3. They have three routines that fit a working week and a body that remembers the coast.
  4. They decide more clearly, work more focused and lead calmer, and can see it against their own baseline.
  5. They feel connected to the people next to them, and to a community that outlasts the trip.

The science, in plain terms

Evidence before claims. Here is what the research supports.

We use these findings to explain the mechanism, not to promise miracles. Each one has a full reference.

Self-regulation

The body's regulation capacity can be measured

Heart-rate variability reflects how well the prefrontal brain regulates the stress response. Higher variability tracks with better emotional regulation and executive function. It is a trainable, measurable marker of the state we work on.

Thayer, Åhs, Fredrikson, Sollers & Wager (2012), Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews, meta-analysis of HRV and neuroimaging studies.
Breath

Five minutes of structured breathing beats mindfulness for mood and arousal

In a randomised controlled study, one month of daily five-minute breathwork improved mood and lowered physiological arousal more than an equal dose of mindfulness meditation. The effect grew with practice.

Balban et al. (2023), Cell Reports Medicine, "Brief structured respiration practices enhance mood and reduce physiological arousal".
Connection

Social connection is a survival factor, not a soft one

Across 148 studies and 308,849 people, stronger social relationships were associated with a 50% greater likelihood of survival, an effect comparable to quitting smoking. Reconnection inside a team is health work.

Holt-Lunstad, Smith & Layton (2010), PLoS Medicine, meta-analytic review.
Engagement

Disengagement is the most expensive line nobody reports

Only 23% of employees are engaged; low engagement costs the global economy an estimated 8.9 trillion dollars a year, about 9% of GDP. Energy and connection are the levers behind that number.

Gallup (2024), State of the Global Workplace.

Five things this is not

Clear lines make it easier to say yes.

A spa weekend

Pleasant, and gone by Monday. We want observable change in the working week, or it did not work.

Esoteric

Somatic and breath practices, explained in plain physiology and tied to the evidence. No costumes, no belief required.

Clinical treatment

Prevention, rebuilding and recovery after exhaustion. Not a substitute for medical or psychological care.

A talking circle

We lead. Structured practices with a clear beginning and end. Nobody shares their feelings with the room.

Biohacking

Data serves self-regulation, not optimisation for its own sake. Health data is never an employer's instrument.

Questions we get

Straight answers.

Is this a retreat with a corporate label?

It feels like the best parts of one. It works like a programme: a baseline, a led reset on the coast, an integration phase at work, and a day-30 measurement. Half of it happens before and after the trip.

Who sees the measurement data?

Each person sees their own. The company sees aggregated, anonymised results for groups of eight or more. Health data is stored separately, never used as an employer instrument, and deleted after the programme unless the participant asks to keep it.

Our people are sceptical engineers and salespeople.

Our best room. Every session is explained in physiology before it starts, everything is optional, and the first one is easy and slightly fun. By day two the sceptics are usually in the water first.

Cold water. Really?

Only for those who want it, always guided, never a test of anyone. Most people go in on day two, once they have seen what it does for the people who went in on day one.

Where does Accelerate Health come in?

Accelerate Health, Berlin, developed the measured, physiology-based method and holds the programme data. Their practitioners and ours deliver together. Atlantic Reset is the corporate format of that method, built for offsites on the Portuguese coast.

How far ahead do we need to book?

Four weeks for a Reset Day inside an event you have already planned. Eight to twelve weeks for the full programme, because the baseline phase needs two weeks before the offsite. Q1 offsites are usually signed in September to November.
